Required for: Root development, girth development, helps to withstand lodging and windbreak

High deficiency risk: Acid soils, podsolic soils with poor base saturation

Deficiency symptoms: Interveinal chlorosis of leaves or chlorosis of needles, starting from the tips

Optimal leaf/needle
Mg concentrations:
> 1.5% (beech trees)
> 1.0% (Norway spruce, Scotch pine)

Fertilizer
recommendations:
Under acute or aluminium induced Mg
deficiency 370-550 kg Kieserite/ha are recommended. Annual maintenance dressing should be in the order of
100-150 kg Kieserite/ha.
