Citrus
Magnesium
| Required for: |
Photosynthesis, yield, fruit size, sugar content
|
| High deficiency risk: |
Light soils, high rainfall levels, soils that receive large amounts of NH4+, K+, Ca2+
|
| Deficiency symptoms: |
Yellowing of the leaves with an inverted V of green tissue at the base of the leaf
|
| Optimal leaf concentrations: |
Mg: |
0.12-0.25%
|
|
S: |
0.21-0.40%
|
| Recommendations: |
Fertilizer recommendation is based on tree age and fruit yield. For young, immature trees (< 1 year) 200 g per tree of Kieserite are applied to soils with a medium Mg supply, whereas 600 g are applied on soils with a poor Mg status. Acid soils (humid climates) or calcareous soils (dry climate) should receive 600 g Kieserite per tree per year. For mature trees the same applies and rates vary between 600 and 1800 g per tree per year.
