Mango

Magnesium and sulphur

Required for: Yield, fruit weight, fruit flavour, sugar content

High deficiency risk: Mg: Strongly weathered Ulti- and Oxisols, compacted soils

  S: Low organic matter soils, areas with topsoil erosion

Deficiency symptoms: Mg: Fishbone-like interveinal chlorosis starting at the older leaves

  S: Pale chlorotic appearance of young leaves

Optimal leaf concentrations: Mg: 0.15-0.40%

S: 0.15-0.20%

Recommendations: Young, immature trees should receive 75 – 200 g Kieserite/tree, applied in a circle around the tree prior to the main growth period. For mature trees 250 – 400 g Kieserite/tree are recommended in one split during the onset of the rainy season.
