Magnesium and sulphur

Required for:	Yield, quality (soluble solids content), ripening, calibre and taste
High deficiency risk:	Mg:	Sandy soils with low nutrient buffer and water retention capacity
	S:	Soils with low organic matter content not receiving any FYM or S containing nitrogen fertilizers
Deficiency symptoms:	Mg:	Interveinal chlorosis and necrosis beginning near the leaf edge and progressing to the main vein, early leaf shedding, fruits are poorly pigmented.
	S:	Reduced, stunted growth, pale green colour of the whole shoot

Mg deficiency in tomatoes: Yellow leaf edges and curling from top to bottom.


Chlorotic appearance of the whole plant and stunted growth are typical for S deficiency in tomato.
