Importance of magnesium and sulphur to man and animal
- Minerals do not just play an important role in plant nutrition, but also in the nutrition and health of both humans and animals.
- All tissues and internal fluids contain varying quantities of minerals. Minerals are constituents of bones, teeth, soft tissue, muscle, blood, and nerve cells.
- All nutrients such as vitamins, proteins, enzymes, amino acids, carbohydrates, fats, sugars and oils require minerals for proper cellular function.
- Although the body can produce certain vitamins, it cannot synthesise a single mineral. Therefore, a sufficient supply of minerals is vital to overall mental and physical well-being.
- The minerals magnesium and sulphur are essential for a range of metabolic functions, e.g. regulation of neuromuscular activity of the heart, conversion of blood sugar into energy and synthesis of structural proteins. Both are components of ESTA Kieserite.
